PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Parents,
Located in the well established Woodbridge community at Rutherford Rd. And Clarence Rd. Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Elementary School has existed for over 20 years, and services approximately 690 students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8, including the extended day to accommodate the Heritage Language Program.
At OLF, we are formed by Catholic beliefs and traditions. We believe that all students can succeed. Inspired by Jesus, we educate all learners in a Christ-centered community called to help each person achieve full potential in a supportive and caring environment. With the assistance of our Priests Father Eugenio, Father Jose and Father Rony of St. Margaret Mary Church, our students are provided with a rich curriculum of studies supported by a co-curricular program consisting of school and class liturgies, retreats, community outreach and daily prayers.
The dynamic staff at OLF seeks to encourage students to have energy, spirit and enthusiasm, having a positive disposition towards themselves and their surroundings. The staff, working collaboratively, strives to improve standards of student achievement in literacy and numeracy. We constantly review, revise and extend our resources and strategies to keep abreast of changing times. We channel student energies towards a social consciousness with fundraisers such as our annual Share Life fundraiser. The dedicated staff also provide a variety of athletic and extra-curricular programs too numerous to list. From track and field… to soccer… to basketball… to volleyball… from the Luke 4:18 club… to the choir… there is a sport or activity that is sure to catch the interest of all students.
The OLF Community is blessed with a very active Catholic School Council, (CSC), where parents are encouraged to get involved in whatever way they can, whether they have a little or a lot of time to offer. We are grateful for the number of parent volunteers in the school. One can find them working with students, organizing subcommittees of programs such as our Lunch Program, Family Skate Night, Educational Evening Parent Seminars, Ten Ten Tennis among many others. Our CSC financially supports the athletic and arts programs, Author/Theatre visits to the school, the Computers in the School Program and the Library Resource Centre.
At OLF, we believe that communication is of vital importance. We communicate with our students, parents, and our community partners via our monthly newsletter, our monthly calendar of events, our Catholic School Council’s monthly newsletter, the lighted street sign board, as well as making all of our Council’s meeting minutes and financial information available in the Office. We have always strived to keep parents up to date, and we are extremely proud of our OLF Website so that we can reach a world never dreamed possible. I am extremely fortunate and proud to serve the community as Principal of such an engaging wonderful school community. Together with our Vice Principal Ms. Angela Rotundo Vergura and the entire staff, we are looking forward to a dynamic year ahead. May Jesus continue to guide our efforts as together we strive to provide peace, wisdom and love.
